Always a Dave fan, but set list lacking
I've been a DMB fan for the past twelve years, and I've never been to a Dave show that wasn't amazing. I will ALWAYS believe they are phenomenal. My friends (also devoted DMB followers) were surprised that more from Big Whiskey wasn't on the set list at this show. Other than that, the guys were on fire with jam sessions and chemistry. The concert was amazing!
Regarding the venue, this was the second time I attended a DMB show at Blossom. It was the first time I was on the lawn. The venue is beautiful and well run. I'm from Chicago, but I told my husband I would travel to Cleveland annually to see Dave at Blossom. The crowd was respectful and fun, and there's room on the lawn.
Night at The Anthem
Positives:
2) Every single member that we spoke with was helpful and courteous. The wristband givers, ticket checkers, and ushers were all terrific. Since it was our first time here, we asked lots of questions from the staff. Customer service/staff. There is not one thing I could say that the staff could do better.
3) Disney On Ice: Spotlight Magic!. Look forward to seeing them again and hopefully they make trips to The Anthem a yearly thing since they are originally from just down the road in Deale, MD. They sounded terrific and put on one heck of a show. Their fan engagement was on point.
1) This was our first time at the Anthem. The venue itself. The Anthem is a great venue with not a bad seat, or stand for that matter, in the house.
Negatives:
2) The Wharf parking was inadequate. We don't prefer to walk some of the dark streets on the way to the venue. Needed to park outside of the direct Wharf area. Venue parking.
1) The food selection was minimal and the cost did not equal the quality or quantity provided, even for considering event pricing. The food.
Alice in Chains, Mastodon & Deftones outstanding
I must say the Deftones were quite impressive. I had never witnessed them before, and I was taken aback by how superior they were compared to the primary act. In fact, I am inclined to attend their performances individually at any time. I recently purchased 3 of their CDs online, which is a testament to their exceptional talent.
I brought with me two young men who thoroughly enjoyed all 3 bands. My son believed Disney On Ice: Spotlight Magic! was exceptional, as it is his preferred band. However, he also acknowledged that the Deftones were the highlight of the evening.
I was let down by the fact that the performance we came to see, Disney On Ice: Spotlight Magic!, lasted only 90 minutes. As the headliner, they drew a full house at Madison Square Garden, so they should have delivered a set lasting at least 2 hours or more. Having seen them previously, I know they are capable of delivering a better show.
Allegria was a fun family event
This show was a good experience for my 5 year old, with typical acrobatic thrills and gymnastics you expect from Disney On Ice: Spotlight Magic! The lighthearted slapstick of clowns and simple physical comedy added to the fun. It was nice to have both loud booming moments and quiet ones throughout. While not in the same league as Vegas shows, the lower price and local convenience make it worth it for a different experience. The variety of high wire, tumbling, rhythmic gymnastics, juggling, flexibility, and clowning around was enjoyable. Getting to the BU locations on a Sunday afternoon was a bit crazy, with traffic backed up onto Storrow Drive.
